Publicity Pointers from a Pro
At our January CCW meeting we were honored to have local PR expert Sharen Rooks visit us to share some excellent advice on how to publicize ourselves and our writings. Among her words of wisdom were “Stay in your lane … don’t try to be what others want you to be” and “If you want to be taken seriou
sly, you must show that you’re serious”. Knowing your audience, adds Sharen, is a vital key to effectively reaching them. Emphasizing the value of public relations, Sharen reminded us that advertising “costs” but PR “pays”. Write press releases and take advantage of networking opportunities, including attending conferences and participating in speaker groups such as Toastmasters: “Don’t go solo … there’s power in numbers”.

Wow, this does not suprise me about the Sharen Rooks Agency that others see her value in our businesses and community.
